Redni profesor

Aleksander Aristovnik is a Professor of Economics and Management in Administration at the Faculty of Public Administration and a Professor of Economics at the School of Economics and Business at the University of Ljubljana. His expertise has been enriched through academic appointments as a visiting scholar at prestigious institutions, including Princeton University, University of Nevada (Reno), University of Dubai, University of Gent, and University of Zagreb, among others. His primary research interests encompass Public Sector Economics, Public Sector Management, Macroeconomics, and Economics of European Integration. Professor Aristovnik has actively contributed to numerous international conferences and has published extensively in high-impact, SSCI-indexed academic journals, such as PLOS One, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, TQMBE, and Scientific Reports. His research publications have been cited over 2,500 times across the WOS and Scopus databases, with an h-index of 21. Additionally, he serves on the editorial boards of various international journals, including Public Policy and Administration Research, International Journal of Knowledge and Learning, Frontiers in Education and PLOS One, and he contributes as a member of the program committees for international scientific conferences such as NISPAcee. Professor Aristovnik has been the leader or a key member of over 50 domestic and international projects and has served as an external reviewer for research agencies and networks worldwide, including the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS), Romanian Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI), CELSA Network, and Qatar National Research Fund. Since 2015, he has led a program research group at the Faculty of Public Administration funded by ARIS. In recognition of his commitment to research, he has received the Research Excellence Award multiple times from the Faculty of Public Administration. In his administrative roles, he has served on the Faculty Senate (2012–2014), led the EAPAA accreditation procedure (2010–2011), chaired the Student Award Committee (2009–2011), and currently heads the Master’s Program in Administration. He also served as Chair of the International EMPA Association (2017/18) and is a member of the EAPAA Accreditation Committee (2023–2027). In 2020, Professor Aristovnik was awarded the Golden Plaque of the University of Ljubljana for his exceptional contributions to scientific and educational advancements and for enhancing the university’s reputation. His influence extends beyond the university as an expert in public sector economics for the Court of Auditors, a member of expert bodies at ARIS, a member of the Official Council of the Republic of Slovenia, and an active member of various international scientific organizations, including the European Economic Association and INFER.
